ZM 2012: EpilogueSeven harsh winters. Seven blazing summers. 84 months of growth and love. And once during almost every single one of them, he returned to her. And finally, she was ready to do the same.ZM 2012: Epilogue by XenaBiteZ
Katara stood in the doorway, watching her daughter splash her hands happily on the surface of the clear pond. Her husband sat beside the little girl, visibly having an internal war as to whether he should pull her away from the water so that the turtleducks would not grow to fear her or leave her be so that his ears would not have her enraged shrieks to fear.
When he looked up and saw her, he seemed to relax a little as a placid smile immediately came to his lips and a small gleam to his eyes. Seeing that she no longer had her father's attention, the little girl looked up to see what could possibly me more important than her. Her thick, brown, wavy hair billowed out behind her as she whipped her head around. Her golden eyes became as soft as her father's and three times as bright when she saw who h
ZM 2012 Day 31: EveDo not speak unless spoken to. A good wife is seen and not heard.ZM 2012 Day 31: Eve by XenaBiteZ
Do not initiate intimacy. A good wife is always ladylike and is never forward.
Never challenge your husband. A good wife does not seek dominance over her spouse.
These were just a few of the rules of being a "good wife" that Katara had to learn. While Lo and Li acknowledged the fact that she may have difficult mastering these rules due to the nature of her relationship with Zuko, but they were no more lenient in their expectations for her to learn these rules. She went through each lesson as stoically as if she were accepting death. Which, in a way, she felt like she was. The death of herself as an individual. As a free woman.
She loved Zuko more than anything. She knew she did. And yet, in the light of their situation, she began to doubt everything. Every new rule was another lock on her prison cell, and every second that ticked by brought her closer to her death.
"You seem troubled, Prince Zuko," Iroh said after t
ZM 2012 Day 30: GravityKatara woke the next morning feeling relaxed beyond reason; the steamy soak with Zuko had done wonders for her. Evidently, the same could be said for him as he awoke beside her and immediately gave her a gentle smile and kiss. She could feel her toes tingling. "Good morning to you, too," she murmured happily.ZM 2012 Day 30: Gravity by XenaBiteZ
He brought his arm around her waist. "How are you?" he asked dreamily.
"Amazing, thanks to you..." she replied. She scooted closer to Zuko and gave him a long, soft kiss which he lazily returned. It so warm in their bed...
"Can we just stay here all day?" he whispered.
Katara laughed. "You can, but I don't want to miss any more of my lessons. Skipping out on our obligations is what got us into this mess in the first place, you know."
"Yeah, but now we know how to ease the stress..." Zuko said snuggling into the crook of her neck, eliciting another quiet laugh from his lover.
"Come on, Zuko, we have to get up," she said dragging herself out of his arms and off of the bed.
ZM 2012 Day 29: SteamBack in Eldur, everything was business as usual—multiplied by about ten times, that is. Due to their recent absences, Zuko was utterly swamped with meetings and Katara's lessons had gone from tedious to downright miserable. Every night, they collapsed into bed worn down and completely exhausted.ZM 2012 Day 29: Steam by XenaBiteZ
"I'd suggest a vacation, but considering that was what got us into this mess, I don't think it would be a very good idea," Zuko mumbled one night as Katara fell into bed beside him.
"Oh, so you're blaming me for this? For wanting to see Akvo every now and then?" she growled.
Zuko turned towards her. "Of course I'm not! You know I loved going to Akvo with you, and I wish we could go back sooner! Besides, it was my idea to go back the first time, anyway," he replied, sounding more exasperated than comforting.
Katara sighed. "I know…I'm sorry, I'm just so tired and stressed out from all of these lessons…"
"I know how you feel…all of these damn meetings…"
"If only there was a way for us to get away
